Real Name: Faryl Zaklin

Bio:
I'm a geek girl, loving living in Southern California and writing a blog.  My passion is technology - especially anything that gives me a creative outlet, or the chance to connect with people or learn something new.  It excites me seeing how the web is evolving and the social technology that’s been popping up to open new ways to form new connections with people.

I particularly enjoy sharing (some might say evangelizing) information with non-techie folks to help demystify the web and identify relevant ways to incorporate it in their lives. After I was laid off from a corporate job, I decided support myself by following my passion, and have been working to build my own business.

Why Did You Join Twitter?
I was at ETech in San Diego & noticed a Seattle friend's Facebook status saying he was there too. I didn't have my cell phone with me, but had my laptop. I had heard of Twitter and knew it could be used for text messaging and had a feeling it was something my friend would use.

Within minutes, I set up an account, sent my first tweet, and connected with my friend!  I didn't really actively use Twitter until about seven months later though.  As I started attending events like Twiistup and SummerMash, I noticed more and more people using Twitter for contact information. At Bar Camp San Diego, it became pretty clear that Twitter was the communication method of choice, since people used their @names on nametags instead of their first names!  From that point forward, Twitter became part of my daily routine.

What Is Your Favorite Thing About Twitter?
Do I only get one? I actually have two favorite things about Twitter: the immediate access to information and the opportunity to make connections that you just don't see anywhere else. If I have to pick a top fave, hands down it's the connections. I'm still amazed that it's possible to form friendships on a site that limits you to 140 characters or less! Yet there are people from all parts of the world that I've become accustomed to tweeting with each day; some turning into "IRL" (in real life) friendships as well.

Do you have a Blog? What is your Blog about?
My blog is The Fearless Blogger.  It's my online home, where I share tidbits that I find interesting, entertaining or helpful. It's a bit eclectic! I describe it as "A girl geek's musings on technology, web/graphic design, social media trends and life in general."

Do you have a Online Business?  If so, tell us a little bit about it:
I provide consulting services on social media strategies as well as some web design and providing hosting services.  Currently I'm in the process of relaunching my hosting business (URLuscious) as a full service WordPress hosting and support site. My goal is to make it easy for anyone to quickly and easily have a website or blog that looks great and is easy to maintain -  regardless of their technical knowledge or experience.

Fun Facts: I'm addicted to pop culture and technology. I love all varieties of animals and ice cream. I'm firmly against mayonnaise, math and meat.  (I've share some other random fun facts about me on my blog here and more on Chuck Westbrook's site too!)
